Creative people, creative thinkers are often treated as a threat because we challenge the status quo. It’s even in our language, the things we say. Oh, they’re a “triple threat” because they can dance, sing and act.
As a creative type, this is why I have to be alone when I create. It’s nothing personal. But I thrive on collaboration, team work and if I can’t have that, solitude. Cooperation is a dirty word in today’s zeitgeist, so I choose to create in solitude.
People say they love art, and it’s true…but what they really mean is they love the finished product, they don’t want any of the sacrifice, any of the blood, sweat and tears, no challenges to their assumptions. They want a finished product they can consume. But they often dislike both the artist and their process.
