This is a handy survival tip. Most people don’t realize that you can get radio reception on certain android phones. I have a Blackview 9800pro and I can’t get this feature to work, but if cell service goes out and internet is down it will be important to stay informed. It requires you to download the tuner app. Be careful, don’t just download a radio app…that’s different this tuner app just allows your phone to pick up radio stations with no internet access. (Not every Android Phone has this functionality)

If you find yourself in an emergency situation without an internet connection, you can still access emergency clear channel stations by tuning into the station’s frequency. To do this on an android phone, open the phone’s Settings app and tap on “Connections.” Next, tap on “Mobile networks.” Then, tap on “Access point names.” Scroll down to the “APN Type” field and enter the following: emergency.com Once you have entered the above information, tap on the menu button and select “Save.” Your phone should now be able to connect to emergency clear channel stations without an internet connection.

  • If you have an android phone, download the app “Tuner Radio.”
  • Open the app and hit the menu button on your phone.
  • Click on “add station.”
  • Scroll down the list and click on “Police/Fire/EMS.”
  • Find the station you want to listen to and click on it.
